Moving to your own domain regardless of its numerous advantages comes with its headaches. Right from selecting an appropriate domain name (book your full name dot com even if you don’t use it) to selecting a hosting provider can either be an easy ride or a royal pain in the rear.
DesiPundit seems to have a hosting curse and regardless of the recommendations, we’ve had our share of bad luck. Considering our bandwidth needs, we recently moved (again!) to Midphase. Midphase purportedly has unmetered bandwidth and although we see a maximum limit in the control panel, I’m told that they tend to increase it if we need it at no extra charge. But I doubt we’ll be exceeding 1.5 terrabyte anytime soon. As part of their promotion scheme, they are offering a deal for new customers. This blog however stays on with Total Choice Hosting. I had a minor hiccup earlier this week when it looked like the blog would exceed the monthly bandwidth limit of 20GB, thanks to Shyamali Malakar searches. But the folks at TCH added another GB at no extra charge and later doubled the monthly quota for an additional buck per month.

I just got myself a webhost and a domain name (Yahoo is currently giving domain names for $1.99 for the first year! So you could add that to your post.)
I went for TCH as you said, and what do I say, Fantastico is just erm… Funtashtik!
I’m not just going live yet, though.

Piker, that’s cool. TCH is a good choice too. And $1.99 for the domain for the first year is cool.
