Selling your Twitter account on eBay

Rocketboom founder,
Andrew Baron is
selling his twitter account with nearly 1,666 followers (at last count) on eBay. The highest bid right now is $1550 [via
MR's Markets in Everything] I hope the buyer knows that those followers can depart in an instant. Chances are that most won’t and will continue to get updates from the person who buys it. If they haven’t heard of this sale, they will assume that those updates are made by Andrew which might lead to loss of credibility for Andrew. In any case, it is generating tremendous amount of publicity for him right now. Obviously not all of it is good. But as they say, no such thing as bad publicity. Somehow I don’t think this is a good idea.
My twitter updates are posted at the top of this blog (just below the menubar). I crossed the 100 followers threshold yesterday and although I’m not sure what that means, some of those followers are spitters (spam Twitterers). More on this growing fascination with Twitter later.
Update: Oops! Looks like eBay yanked his auction. Just like Craigslist. I wonder why.
