Suspicious Republican ethics

In an interesting development however of little interest to the Indian populace, Tom DeLay, the Republican House Majority leader was indicted “with conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme.” Of course, he has stepped down from his post in the Congress but this is a major blow to the in-power Republicans whose reputation lately is taking a beating. Natural calamities, Katrina and Rita haven’t helped matters for them much. DeLay isn’t the only one suspected of having dubious ethics. His counterpart in the Senate, Bill Frist (Senate Majority Leader) is accused of insider information trading (Martha Stewart’s crime) and Karl Rove, the presidential advisor is accused of outing a CIA operative. Is this the beginning of the end for Republicans? They have ruled the White House, the Senate, and the House for most of this century but the cracks are showing. Dubya’s popularity ratings are down there; the lowest ever since he assumed power.

Patrix, U r rite on the “money”.

I think that the Republicans will be slowly booted out, as a result of all these crazy things…nature, greed, etc…unless Bushie does a “osama-outa-the-hat” thingie just before the elections.

I have a very strong gut feeling that it will be that way.

I am not so sure. They are pretty skilled at getting their act together just in time for election and manipulating the public so that it doesnt remember anything that happened in the last 4 years, only remember what the repubs are telling them right now.

Patrix, I have a minor factual correction. Tom de Lay stepped down as House Majority Leader. He is still a member of the House of Representatives.
