Obama is Spock

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or email alerts. Thanks for visiting! They’re not just talking about the ears. For those of us who watched the show in the 1960s (or during the countless reruns since), Nimoy’s alter ego was the harbinger of a future in which logic [...]

Jai Ho for Slumdog Millionaire

I hope Slumdog Millionaire sweeps the Oscars tonight and notably in the Best Score and Best Song category for our own A R Rahman. I don’t care whether you liked the movie or not or you think that Jai Ho is not Rahman’s best work. The Oscars will be opening and featuring Bollywood dance numbers. [...]

Barber Barber Dekkho

This news was inevitable and only the first in the long list of events if we let competitive intolerance go unpunished. A billion souls and at any given point someone is getting offended at something. The problem is caused not because of their opinions but because of the capitulation that follows such frivolity.

Michael Cera pulls a Bale

First Christian Bale, and now Michael Cera (of the Superbad and Juno fame) although not as delicious as Bale [via]. It is always fun to see celebrities flip out but something tells me, this is the latest tool in seeking publicity via YouTube. Now we know what movie he is shooting, right?

Thoughts on Slumdog Millionaire

This post comes awfully late and probably after nearly everyone in the blogosphere, desi or otherwise, have opined on the movie that they either love or love to hate but anyway here goes. Slumdog Hits the Globes

Slumdog Millionaire, the movie I desperately want to see and that isn’t playing in town, is nominated for four Golden Globes – Picture, Director, Screenplay, and Score. A.R. Rehman thus finds himself among the nominees for the first time. The Golden Globes are considered an indicator for the Academy Awards.

Michael Moore’s Slacker Uprising – Free Download

Michael Moore’s latest movie Slacker Uprising is premiering live on the Internet. It is the first movie that is available free for download on the day of its release. For viewers outside the U.S., I’m sure there are plenty of options (Blip.TV, Amazon VoD, Lycos, Hypernia, etc.) and nothing is illegal.
The movie is a documentary [...]

The Ultimate Animation Collection

Disney/Pixar’s Ultimate 8-movie collection is an awesome gift. I would love to own this collection although I would wait a while and swap A Bug’s Life for Wall-E. And wouldn’t you want them in Blu-Ray instead of the now rapidly-getting-obsolete DVD format?
