Taiwan flexes its People Power muscle

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or email alerts. Thanks for visiting!

After China passed a law last week which effectively allows them to use force if Taiwan decided to assert its independence, it unleashed another million-strong protest march. Ukraine and Lebanon seems to have struck a chord in the belief of people power. Of course, such protest marches do not organize themselves. But it will be interesting to see China’s reaction now, given the Tiananmen Square memories (Note to Chinese leaders: Do not apply for an American visa in these times; on the other hand, forget I said that, it doesn’t matter).

Strangely, I did not find an American media link to this story and even BBC News has a minor reference on the side bar. If a protest march half this size had been cobbled together in the Middle East, it would have pushed Terri Schiavo to the sidelines. Or does it simply signify the dominant influence of China. No one wants to piss them off; with India chalta hai.
