And second, I just have to ask, are conservative Republicans really this gullible? A week ago, they didn’t know or care about Sarah Palin, and John McCain was desperately trying to figure out how to get away with a pro-choice running mate. This is my biggest problem with the Palin phenomenon. After beating up the Democrats with the celebrity accusation all summer, Republicans seem to have one of their own. And they dutifully follow the lead of their higher-ups. Replace Palin with any other pro-life creationist ‘hockey’ mom from say, Michigan and the reaction would be the same.
Do all Republicans really instantly believe what their party leaders tell them without judging the candidate themselves first? Doesn’t that remind of regimes or leaders Americans are brought up to hate? Palin is great because everyone says so, is not what I expect from a smart electorate. Or maybe I’m expecting too much.
