TV President is for real?

If you have been following
24, starring Keifer Sutherland on Fox then you must be getting that uncanny feeling that the presidential administration depicted onscreen resembles the one in real life. The seemingly bumbling inept president flanked by a shrewd scheming and control-freak vice-president and of course, not to mention the traitorous and falsely delusional patriotic chief of staff. The show is wildly successful and not without reason because its characters are believable and aren’t stark black-n-white. This week’s episode however turned everything on its head and previously thought of victims suddenly turned into villainous characters. I’ll not reveal much to avoid spoiling it for those who haven’t watched it yet.
Getting back to the original thought, the president has always reminded me of George Bush who is secretly unsure of himself and has to rely on his shrewd and politically savvy staff that often ends up having all the wrong intentions. But this episode almost proved what I genuinely feel about Bush (oops! I gave it away) and he isn’t really that stupid as we make him out to be. He is simply doing something that he thinks is best for America regardless of how un-American it is. The misguided intentions of imposing martial law under the assumption that it is best for the country (on TV) is as fallacious as the invasion of Iraq; right intentions but wrong implementation. And we thought TV gives us an idea for our real life actions. Bah!

Megha, Right. It was all about WMDs and protecting the American people by fighting the war there instead of here.
Tony, I know. please update your feeds. I have contacted Typepad regarding the spammer squatting on my previous blog account but they haven’t been able to help me much.
