[Neelam Jaswant] Singh tested positive in competition in Helsinki on 7 August for the prohibited stimulant pemoline.
She faces a two-year ban from competition and is provisionally suspended pending a hearing by her national federation. Singh managed a best throw of 56.70m in Helsinki and failed to qualify for the discus final. [BBC]
What makes me shake my head in disappointment is not failing the drug test but rather failing to qualify for the finals in spite of taking performance-enhancing drugs. What more could she have done? Of course, taking drugs is wrong but if you do, at least win and get your medal stripped away. That should make your country ‘proud’. Stupid woman! Twilight, do me a favor and jhap that girl.

M, I know! We didn’t win a single medal and the only athlete tainted with a positive drug test turns out to be an Indian.

I swear! I just got back from the games! and all my excitement of being able to watch these games vanished when I read this ugly bit of news in the papers being distributed there! I thought exactly the same thing as you have pointed out..she failed *inspite* of these things..and if I remember correctly she had been banned earlier too.. or was it someone else?
I literally felt like hiding the Indian flag painted on my face :p

Twilight, too bad your first international meet turned out to be a damp squib and embarrasing for India.
Anya, LOL! unless they are French :) they can’t keep secrets (remember Salt Lake City?)
