Why Apple Makes Grown Men Cry (in joy)

On paper I don’t even like capitalism that much, or believe in The American Way, or think that gadgets — or any possession — can make us happy. I’m not the kind of guy who normally watches corporate presentations, let alone watches them through tears. And yet when Steve Jobs introduced the clamshell iBook back in 1999, I found myself actually weeping with gratitude.

This company understands the importance of beauty, managing to set the right balance between desire and spirituality, complexity and simplicity, form and function, software and hardware (which is, of course, a new version of the old body-mind dialectic). Not for nothing was the young Steve Jobs obsessed with the charisma of German companies like Braun and Porsche, themselves strongly influenced by Bauhaus ideas melding functionality with spirituality [source].

Good design never goes unappreciated.

Agree with the good design part. But where does spirituality come into Apple design?

And about the Bit-torrents, I don’t download anything on campus. Plus I am using rapidshare and megaupload more. Plus http://www.tv-links.co.uk , which btw is a great resource for streams.
