What is causing the problem? Is it WordPress and any plugins (SuperCache?) The problem just started and I’m already using 12 fewer plugins after my theme change. Or is it my hosting provider who is slowing me down but then why would it work in another browser on the same IP? and why does it resolve after a relatively short time? Or is it a browser issue as I notice, WordPress logs me out more often than before. If I know whom to blame, it would be easier.

I don’t have a problem opening your site. I’ve opened it up on Firefox on the Mac and PC.
Since you have only 12 plugins I would suggest going with the classic approach of disabling plugins (most suspicious ones) one at a time and enabling them to identify the culprit.
I’m sure anyone at the front end has any problem. Before disabling plugins, I want to be sure if it is indeed WordPress-related. I don’t have any new plugins save one. And even that one is a front-end one; why should it affect loading times on the backend?
Disable javascript on your browser and try. If not clear the cache and try too!

Thanks. The problem doesn’t occur often but only when I’m on an editing spree so will give it a shot. I’ve tried clearing the cache though. No luck.
