Every blogger sooner or later discovers this and identifies with it. :)

    Reality check.

Amit, I know and it wasn’t the first time but yesterday’s incident was as close as it could get to the comic. If you want to know more, check out my twitter exchange with Ashok Banker.

    A post. A post!!
Don’t have a twitter account, unless you can share the link which is accessible without registering. :)

Amit, our Twitter accounts are open so you could access them without logging in and a post would be blowing the issue out of proportion so for your benefit I’ll try to give you a summary:

Ashok linked to a study that said US had the largest prison population in the world and added that US itself is like one big jail and followed up by saying US is the worst offender of violence and aggression. Having lived here for last 8 years amidst what most would consider a trying time for civil liberties, I still considered those statement hyperbole especially compared to other countries, India included. He mistook my disagreement as a personal attack and reprimanded me in return for taking it personally saying does the US want him to shut up. I was like, dude you are exaggerating and was simply pointing that out but he ranted on.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t an isolated incident. When the bomb blasts in India occurred recently, he cited the US’s aggression and penchant for violence as one of the reasons. Perhaps in his circle, it is fashionable to bash the US for any terrorist activities. And you have been a reader of my blog long enough to know that I’m no apologist for the US and indulge in Bush-bashing of my own but to label the US as one big jail and what not is same as calling Gujarat a hell hole just because of those 2002 riots.

Say your thought!
