Zidane banned for three games

The FIFA officials have slapped an academic penalty on Zidane by banning him from three games for the headbutting incident at the WC Finals. Zidane has already retired from the game so the ban is mostly academic. He was also fined 3,260 pounds (why the odd amount, I wonder) which is chump change for Zidane.

Incidentally, Materazzi was also fined (2,170 pounds) and banned for two games. However, FIFA ruled that his remarks although defamatory were not racist. So I guess, he must have been reprimanded and given a slap on the wrist; probably even made to apologize to Zidane. Anyway, all seems well in the football world now and the ugly incident will be soon forgotten, I hope.
