Decision-making with a Coin Toss

Coin Toss.jpg

One of the best decision-making advice I’ve read in a long time. The text in the image says:

“When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you, but because, in that brief moment with the coin is in the air, you suddenly know what you are hoping for.” [source: Minimal]

When you toss the coin, if you truly believe that you’re bound by the result, that’s when your inner voice would be most honest. If you know that the coin is not what decides the outcome, perhaps it is easy to rationalize your way around what you would honestly hope for.

Hmm, I’m not sure if I make a lot of sense in my previous comment :P

@Sherene: LOL! I think I get what you mean. It is like asking a bunch of people and the number of people you ask depends until a majority agree with your choice.

Also, a corollary in this method is that you don’t look at what the actual result of the coin toss was otherwise there is one more factor that will impede your decision-making.

Sigh….and what abt cases when you start doing best of 3 or best of 5 lol ;) – I find myself in such situations very often !

@Supremus: That’s what I said to Sherene, you shouldn’t see what the result is.
